Kaka’s Wife, Caroline Celico: I Thought I Was Superior

In an interview for Istoe, Kaka’s wife, Caroline Celico tells how she faced the bad times in her professional life, admits she was fanatic when she was at Renascer em Cristo Church, and tells why she left it.

Caroline Celico, 24, is late. When she finally arrives at the hotel where we should meet, she is in a hurry and apologizes. “The pediatrician left me waiting”, she explained, wearing impeccable make up, clothes and jewelry.  Mother of Luca, 3, and Isabella, who is  6 months old, she took the opportunity to take her two children to the doctor. Wife of Kaka, who plays for Real Madrid and was chosen the best football player in the year of 2007 by Fifa, she’s in Brazil to release the second edition of her CD and DVD. Two years after she left Renascer em Cristo Church, owned by apostle Estevam Hernandes and bishop Sonia, she is enjoying the privileges of her spiritual freedom. “I have grown so much about things that were essential to me”, she admits. “I thought I was superior. That’s one of the worst features I have ever had.”

The process of growing up wasn’t easy for Caroline. When she was 15, she started dating one of the biggest stars of the Brazilian football. A year later she joined “by free will” Renascer em Cristo Church, which Kaka used to attend. She got baptized, joined study groups of the Bible and started to attend the cults in a compulsive way. Her mother, Rosangela Lyra, 46, who is catholic and fashion ambassador of Dior in Brazil, noticed her blindness and tried to tell her daughter. “She wanted to protect me from Renascer. She tried to make me leave the Church, but everytime she did it, I got deeper and deeper”, Caroline remembers. Their fights went beyond the usual arguments between teenagers and their parents, and they almost stopped talking. “I even threw away some of her ‘saint’ stuff, and one of her bracelets”, she says. “I was completely involved, I was fanatic”.

In 2005, when she was 18, Caroline got married at the Renascer headquarters, at the time in Lins de Vasconcelos boulevard, in Cambuci, center of Sao Paulo. The building would later collapse for lack of maintenance of the framework, killing nine people and hurting 117. She was in the height of her faith. When she moved to Italy, where her husband was living since he was transferred to Milan, in 2003, she arrived with the idea of expanding Renascer to Europe. That’s when she became a pastor and started preaching for Renascer via internet. In 2009, during one of these sermons, she suggested that God had given money to Real Madrid, right in the middle of a financial crisis, to hire her husband. “I deeply regret saying that. I heard it from someone else and repeated it”, she tells. When asked who originally said it, she smiles, drinks a glass of water and changes the subject.  ”I don’t think like that Carol anymore, the immature, easily influenced one. I want to follow my way with my own legs. That’s why I left Renascer.”

“Some friends lost contact with us because he wasn’t playing that well. It happens, specially when the person has a huge expectation from someone like Kaka”

It was also in 2009 that she left the Church. Without giving details, she tells she saw things in Renascer she had never seen before, things she had been told about, but she had never believed. Aware of her guilt, she knows she is also blamed. She recognizes she was trying to please humans and not God, a common flaw among the evangelists, and she admits her own hypocrisy. “I used to go to church and be the heroin of faith, a great pastor, but when I got home I didn’t treat the person who worked for me right”, she says. Like a sponge, she explains, she used to absorb the energy of those in the place she visited the most, the church.  She tells they were people “who couldn’t give things they had never received”, like love, politeness and respect. She is honest about Renascer’s problems: “It became a business that needed to be administered”, she claims. “I didn’t want that for me.”

Today she doesn’t attend any church, preferring to pray at home, without any other influences and only with her family, which became closer during the time when Kaka stood at home, recovering from the injuries he got for insisting to play in the 2010 World Cup, even though he knew he was hurt. “We noticed football wasn’t everything”. In the gloom moments of her husband, Caroline tells she used to remind him everything he had conquered so far to cheer him up.  But it was a though journey. “Some friends lost contact with us because he wasn’t playing that well.” she says. “It happens, specially when the person has a huge expetation from someone like Kaka.” Caroline adds, to whom this may have been the worst part during the time he didn’t play.

Called by coach Mano Menezes for the friendly matches of the Brazilian squad against Gabon and Egypt, Kaka will be back in light and these colleagues might come back with it. Caroline will welcome them with arms wide open. “We also need colleagues, not only friends.” she says, with the tolerance and resignation that mark this new phase of her life. While her husband goes back to playing football, Caroline slowly dedicates time to her new project called “Horizontal Love”. It is a new website dedicated to the donation of hygienic and health products, food, among other things. “I want to help small institutions that take care of homeless children, no matter which faith they have”, she says, showing that the old Caroline was kept in the past.

¡”REALKAKÁ” INTERVIEW!

Last thursday, RealMadridTV released “RealKaká”, an special interview to Kaká!

“Mourinho stood by me and said encouraging things so that I would continue to believe that things would be good for me at Real Madrid”

Kaka has just started his third season at Real Madrid with a lot of optimism. The Brazilian midfielder talked about his return to form and his hopes for the present campaign in the official channel’s show of exclusive interviews.

Ricardo, thank you so much for joining us on the ‘Real…’ series. You must be delighted with your current form and the way Real Madrid are playing at the moment.

Yes, I’m very happy for this. I’m back in shape so I can play better than I did before. I’m also happy for Real Madrid because we won three games after two bad matches against Racing and Levante. I think the team has a new face.

This is your third season now on the team, but it’s the first time you were able to put in a full preseason with Real Madrid. How has that helped you progress this campaign?

I think the preseason is so important… The last preseason I had, I believe, was in 2007. It’s very important because the season is so long and you have to be in shape to play on Sunday, Wednesday and Sunday again, so having a preseason with the team this year was fantastic for me and very important.

You began your career when you were eight years old at Sao Paulo. You were there for more than ten years. What did you learn there and how did it shape you as a footballer?

I’m so grateful to Sao Paulo because that’s where the groundwork was laid for me to become a football player. I started there when I was eight years old and stayed until I was 21, when I left to play for Milan. Everything I learned as a kid I learned at Sao Paulo. I am very grateful because I learned a lot of things… A lot of things… We learn every day, but I learned many things at Sao Paulo.

We gave the fans an opportunity to ask you a question today and we’ve had e-mails in from all over the world. We picked one of those out and they asked which football player inspired you as a child?

Thank you to everybody who sent messages. My favourite player was Rai. He played for Sao Paulo when they won the first Club World Cup in Japan against Barcelona. Rai was the most important player on that team. Rai was my idol and a great example of a football player for me to follow. He returned to Brazil after he played for Paris Saint-Germain. He’s now got several charities in Brazil… He’s a very nice guy. Rai is my greatest inspiration.

We’ve heard you say in the past (maybe when you were a little bit older) that Ronaldo was a player you really liked to watch. Then you went on to win the World Cup with him, with Brazil. How was that?

That World Cup was amazing because when I went to the World Cup I was 20 years old. Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Cafu were all there when I got there. It was amazing for me, being 20 years old, to play, train and spend the day with these players. It was a great experience. Especially being with Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Rivaldo because we more or less played in the same position. I watched them play for so long… Ronaldo is the best footballer I’ve ever played with.

Of course Ronaldo was here under Florentino Perez, who signed you for Real Madrid. He’s always supported you. How does it feel to have the support of the Real Madrid President?

It’s great. Florentino has always said good words to, and about, me. He said I would stay and see my dream of playing with Real Madrid come through. I want to thank Florentino, the club, my teammates and the supporters because the things I went through were not easy, but I managed to pull through thanks to their support.

Kaka has just started his third season at Real Madrid with a lot of optimism. The Brazilian midfielder talked about his return to form and his hopes for the present campaign in the official channel’s show of exclusive interviews.

Yes, it’s not been easy for you. In your first two seasons here at Real Madrid things were a little difficult due to injury. What was that like?

It was very difficult because I first had problems in my groin area and later on my knee. There was a lot of doubt, with people asking themselves if I’d ever be back or not: “Will Kaka play well again? Or not?” So it’s not easy, but I think things are going well now and I can show more of what I can do for Real Madrid.

Also, another person who’s always been a big supporter of yours is Jose Mourinho, and he said on your return from injury that you’d make the difference for this team. What’s it like to have the backing of the best coach in the world.

It’s great to have it because Mourinho always stayed behind me. His staff and everybody who works with him have always been there. It’s not easy. You train every day, but some days things don’t go well, so every time someone would come over and say something positive. The moment I didn’t believe any more Mourinho stood by me and said encouraging things so that I would continue to believe that things would be good for me at Real Madrid.

Well, you are back and it’s been great for us all to see. How is your confidence at the moment and how does it feel to be back to your best?

My confidence is better now. It’s increased, but I know that I haven’t done anything yet, so I have to do a lot of work. We’ll see what the balance is at the end of the season. I feel I have the chance to make a difference this season.

This season we’ve seen some fantastic attacking football already from Real Madrid, and you’ve played a key role in that. What’s it like to be part of the team at the moment and what’s the mood like in the dressing room?

It’s very good. The dressing room at Real Madrid is very good. I think the mood is amazing. A lot of people say that it’s not good, that the Portuguese form a group, that the Spaniards form another… That’s not true. Everybody respects everybody. We have a great relationship between us. I think this year can be a good year for Real Madrid.

What’s the chemistry like on the pitch between you players up front: Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, yourself, Higuain…?

It’s easy to play with them. They are very intelligent, and once we know the dynamic we must have, how we must play, it’s easier. I can play with Ozil and Cristiano; or with Ozil, Di Maria and Higuain… I think everybody can play with everybody. I think that’s the best thing the manager can do with this team.

Long season ahead; three competitions. What are your hopes personally, and then with the team as well?

I think Real Madrid always think about winning, so we need to win something. It’s our responsibility. The footballers who play for Real Madrid think like that because I think we are all winners. So we need to think about winning. I hope at the end of the season we can celebrate good championships.

We all do. Thank you very much for your time Ricardo.

You’re welcome.

Kaká: “I will do my best to be successful on this team. I’m sure I will be.”

Realmadrid.com just released an interview with Kaká. Check the whole interview and also see some pictures of it:

Kaka only needed four minutes to score what could well be Real Madrid’s most beautiful strike of their six in the match against Zaragoza. The midfielder talked shop with Realmadrid.com and RealmadridTV, discussing Jose Mourinho and his hopes for the present campaign.

How do you feel after scoring a goal against Zaragoza?

I feel very well. I’m happy to start the league like that. It’s good for me because I had a bad start to last season due to the surgery I was subjected to. Starting the present campaign with a victory, a goal and playing time is great.

What did that goal mean to you?

It gives me hope because there was a lot of talk regarding me leaving Real Madrid this summer and it seemed to put an end to all that speculation. The goal encourages me to have a good season and to help the club have one too.

All your teammates celebrated the strike with you…

Our unity is obvious in every game and with every goal celebration. My strike was the fifth that night and we all celebrated together. Things like that make us stronger as a group.

You scored and served an assist in few minutes on the pitch. Does performing like that boost your morale?

Giving such a performance does build your confidence. To have such confidence from the first match of the league is important in order to have continuity, to play more minutes and to gradually reach optimum form.

All your teammates said you have to be an important player on the team.

My teammates help me a lot. They did so when things were tough for me and they’re happy now that things are working out. That’s how I feel and it explains what they all said after the match. It motivates me even more to know my teammates love me.

Mourinho said he likes knowing he’s got a player like you by his side. That must mean a lot coming from him…

It does. He’s always had faith in me. He could have said he didn’t want me anymore, that the club should look for another team for me. He believes I can help the team considerably. The rest of the coaching staff does too. Rui Faria, Karanka, Morais, Louro and the rest of his staff help me and give me strength to keep improving.

Do you feel you have the coach’s confidence?

I do. Mourinho believes I can improve and help the team. It’s good to know he’s aware that I’m by his side. I’m going to fight to continue to be there, but also to be a starter.

How do you see the team?

I think it’s doing great. We prepared well this summer and that’s what really counts. We played very well against Barcelona in both games and our first league game proved we prepared well for the season. This is crucial in order for a team to be successful in a long season in which so much is at stake.

What do you feel Real Madrid can achieve this year?

We all feel something important will happen. We believe we’ll win something that will make fans, players and all those who love Real Madrid very happy.

What do you expect on a personal level?

I hope to enjoy football and to find personal success at Real Madrid. The fans and I want to see the best Kaka in action. That’s what I wish for this season.

Do you picture Cibeles after having a great season both on a personal and collective level?

All those who play for Real Madrid dream of that. We were there last season to celebrate the Copa del Rey title. I hope to return this year to celebrate a more important and historical victory.

Mourinho and Casillas say there are no untouchable players on the team and that no one on the squad should believe they are…

That’s good for the team because positive competition makes players improve. There are more or less two players for every position and those who are currently on the bench should know they could be starters too. This motivates the team and allows it to grow.

What would you say to the fans?

I would like to thank them for the support and strength they give me on the streets. They always say they want to see the best Kaka in action. Many asked me to stay this summer, they didn’t want me to leave Real Madrid. I also wish to tell them I will do my best to be successful on this team. I’m sure I will be.

KAKÁ REITERATES HE WANTS TO CONTINUE IN REAL MADRID!

Full interview in the Presentation of “Predator Boots” in London This May 17:

How does the final of the Champions League?

It will be a great match, a great event, you know how to beat another.

What are you going to Manchester, with the club or Casillas, with football?

I’m also going to football. I have friends in the Manchester United and Barca. Will be a great final.

Give us a view Sahin and Özil.

Sahin I know well, I know weight has had a great season at Borussia Dortmund and a great effort to get to Madrid. As Özil is a privilege to be at his side, having him close. I am happy to have a partner as well.

Would you recommend the signing of Fernando Llorente?

It is a great player and could be in any major team in Europe, but Madrid is where I always go better. No I mean you have to buy one, because I do not compete. Just say it’s an excellent footballer.

What is your opinion of the court fight with UEFA Real Madrid after his clash with Barcelona?

I think that Madrid has pictures, facts and reason enough to undertake such actions. Is controversial, but it is not negative. Has been to fight for their rights, not only for us, the players. Also it has done for the good of football.

His mother suggested a Twitter would sign for Chelsea.

The truth is that I am in Madrid and want to be in Madrid. My mother will come to a conference to preach in London, but made it clear I want to play in Madrid next season. I will not return to Brazil and leave the Premier or Italy. The goal is to make a great campaign with Real

What would you recommend to Manchester United to beat Barcelona?

Ferguson is a great coach and knows how to do it. Once he wanted to sign me brother was in Milan and chose to stay. Six months later I offered to go Madrid and Milan and I agreed that my leaving was best.

What is the balance of your stay in Madrid?

I’ve been here for two years. We are a large group, we had a good season and want to continue. With Milan have a good relationship and I am proud to have played there, but I want to win titles in Madrid. I am satisfied with the campaign. We won the Cup, reached the semifinals of Champions and finishing second in the league.

Milan CEO Galliani & Kaka’s Father Bosco Leite To Have A Final Meeting About Kaka Return

Kaka’s father again in Milan to discuss the final details of the deal…

Bosco Leite – the father of the famous Milan present-former star Kaka, in Milan again to finalize the last part of the freshly agreed deal for a sensational return of Kaka.
On this meeting, the two of them will talk about Kaka’s price which Milan will be obligated to pay and the salary.
As we have reported before, nor Real Madrid’s ace Kaka doesn’t oppose on comeback, nor Milan. A few weeks ago, he stated that “Milan will always be in his heart and would like to return, for the club’s and the fans joy, as well”.
Milan’s staff decided to do this, after they realized that Ganso is getting further away from Milan and is closer to Inter. It seems that his agent has apparently visited Milan to discuss transfer with Inter’s management, rather than with Milan.
According to AS, Kaka also losing patience with Real Madrid medical staff, after thoughts about not telling him the truth and not allowing him to go Brazil are beginning to hunt him.
Nobody knows weather all those things are really reliable, but one thing is for sure: Kaka isn’t feeling well at Madrid! It is not just a moment or a day, but it is happening all this time. It is visible that he does his best in order to return to playing from injury, but Real Madrid is the definite problem.
