Biography

Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite or just call him Kaka (or Ricky, as some people do) is a super amazing Brazilian football player who’s now playing for the giant Spanish team, Real Madrid. He was born in April 22, 1982 in Brazilia, and currently lives in Madrid, Spain. He started his career as a professional footballer after being contracted by Sao Paolo FC when he was only 15. He soon became the star of the club and attracted Italian club AC Milan, which signed him up for EUR 8.5 million in 2003. In AC Milan, he became the most important player, by helping the club to win Scudetto and UEFA Super Cup. Even though the team didn’t win in some matches, he was always considered as the best midfielder or “man of the match”. Many people recognized that “a new football superstar was born” ever since Kaka stole the world’s attention in 2007. He won FIFPro World Player of the Year, UEFA Club Footballer of the Year, and even the prestigious Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the Year. Time magazine named him as one of the world’s influential people in its annual Time 100 list inside the “Heroes and Pioneers” category. In 13 January 2009, English club Manchester City bid him for over £ 100 million, making controversies as the Milan supporters protested outside the club headquarters. Eventually Kaka remained in Milan, he saluted the fans by flashing his Milan jersey outside a window and said that he loves being in AC Milan and even wanted to “grow old” in Milan. But in June 2009, it was reported that Real Madrid offered Milan £ 68.5 million deal for Kaka, and it was undeniable that the football superstar moved to the Spanish club for a six-year deal. Kaka himself explained that his departure to Madrid was because of Milan’s economic condition, which was about to lose EUR 70 million. Real Madrid is now running its second Los Galacticos project by bringing the world’s best players to the club, including Xabi Alonso, Raul Albiol, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema.

Apart from his football career, Kaka is also known as the “muse” of Giorgio Armani. The Italian top designer admitted that he’s a big fan of Kaka and AC Milan, and even was a bit disappointed after Kaka’s departure to Madrid. Kaka was signed to be Armani’s primary model for his two lines, Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani in 2005, and was featured on its annual campaign product advertisement until now.

Most people love him not only because of his football skill and good-looking physical appearance, but also his positive contribution to the world. Kaka was chosen as UN’s World Food Program ambassador in 2004 (and was the youngest ambassador to do so that time), and proudly stated publicly that he was a virgin until he got married. He is known as a very religious person, he gave 20% of his earnings to the church where he’s in. Even in the football field, he always raise his hands pointing to the sky as the gesture of thanks to God, and he started a trend of wearing “I Belong to Jesus” t-shirts.
