- The name Kaka is actually a common nickname for “Ricardo” in Portuguese. But in Kaka’s case, it was actually because of his brother, Rodrigo, called him “Caca” because he couldn’t pronounce “Ricardo”. And then it evolved into Kaka.

- In October 2000, at the age of 18, he was lucky not to be crippled when he suffered an horrific back injury in a swimming pool accident. Kaka was visiting his grandparents in Caldas Novas, Brazil, and while there he slipped on a swimming pool slide. He fell into the shallow water and hit his head hard on the bottom of the pool, twisting his neck and fracturing vertebrae. But doctors were amazed by his recovery. They said Kaka was lucky to be able to even walk. To the young player, however, it had nothing to do with luck – God had intervened.
- He married his childhood sweetheart Caroline Celico in December 2005. They met in 2001 when Caroline was 14 years old student.
